What is BvB?
Blondes vs. Brunettes is a volunteer-driven event that raises awareness and funds for the Alzheimer's Association of WNY. They are dedicated to supporting research, awareness, and education about Alzheimer's Disease. Two teams of women – divided to reflect the age-old rivalry between Blondes and Brunettes – compete in a flag football game to help end this devastating disease. The participants also recruit coaches, announcers and other volunteers to build an atmosphere of fierce, but friendly competition. Leading up to game day, the two teams participate in a series of events to socialize and increase awareness. Although for a very serious cause, the emphasis on this event is total fun. The girls really play, the guys really coach and the referees really make the calls on the field! The girls are supported by male coaches who teach the girls the game of football. They also fundraise and awareness to battle Alzheimer's.

History

In the fall of 2005, the first Blondes vs. Brunettes event was held in Washington D.C. Organized by a group of young women with a personal connection to the cause, the event quickly became a success and has since expanded. A special thank you to Ryan Triplette and Sara Allen Abbott who founded this event in 2005. Without the creativity and determination of both these phenomenal ladies, Blondes vs. Brunettes would never have gotten off the ground in it's first year, let alone become a force in major metropolitan areas around the country!

In 2009, Buffalo joined the fight and has raised over $100,000 since. BvB has occurred for the last several years in Houston, Austin, Kansas City, Dallas, Chicago and Washington, DC. BvB continues to grow with Miami, Denver and Charlotte joining in 2012. Together, we have raised well over a million dollars to put an end to this disease!

How can you get involved?
We would LOVE for you to join us! Ladies over the age of 21 are welcome to join the team that represents their hair color. Redhead? You get to choose which team you'd like to join!
